<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of an electromagnetic switch by means of a diode refluxing current caused by inductance of an excitation coil. <P>SOLUTION: An electromagnetic switch comprises an excitation coil forming an electromagnet by energization, a movable iron core driven by magnetic force generated by the excitation coil, a cylindrical frame with a bottom face housing the excitation coil, an end plate forming a part of a magnetic circuit of the excitation coil and electrically connected to the cylindrical frame, and a diode electrically connected in parallel to the excitation coil.
