<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for the online monitoring of the corrosion of a pressure vessel. <P>SOLUTION: First and second electrodes 40 can be isolated from each other in a wall 28 of the pressure vessel 12 and exposed to a corrosive environment in the pressure vessel 12. Additionally, the first and second electrodes 40 can be electrically coupled so that, when an electrical potential difference exists between the electrodes 40, an electrical current flows between the first electrode 40 and the second electrode 40. The electrical potential difference and/or the electrical current flowing between the electrodes 40 can then be measured and analyzed to determine when to perform a corrective action on the pressure vessel 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
