<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aid a photographer so that he or she can carry out photographing with a visually balanced composition. <P>SOLUTION: In a digital camera 10 according to the present invention, a composition DB 173 in which optimum composition information according to the type of a target subject is stored is provided. From image data captured by an imaging device 16, the type of a target subject is determined in the target-photographing scene of image data. Composition information corresponding to the type of a determined target subject is read from the composition DB 173.
