<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement efficient polarization recycling and homogenizing having a plurality of color lights by a compact and inexpensive structure having a small number of components. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device 1 includes a plurality of emitting parts 2R, 2G and 2B, a rod integrator 5, a dichroic mirror 3 disposed on the light incident side of the rod integrator 5, and a reflection type polarizing plate 6 disposed on the light emission side of the rod integrator 5. The reflection type polarizing plate 6 transmits one of the two linearly polarized light components having the directions of vibration orthogonal to each other, and reflects the other. The dichroic mirror 3 includes a plurality of regions 3R, 3G and 3B disposed corresponding to the plurality of emitting parts 2R, 2G and 2B, respectively. The regions 3R, 3G and 3B have optical characteristics in which each of the regions transmits the color light of the corresponding emitting part and reflects the other color lights. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
