<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fraudulent action by improving a theft prevention appliance to be attached to a book along the head, the foot, and the back of the book thereby preventing a locking sleeve going along the head from being lifted fraudulently. <P>SOLUTION: A near-spine foot inserting piece 23 is provided at a lower end of a back frame 21 going along the spine a of the book A, a locking stick 26 is coupled through a hinge 25 to a hinge base part 24 bent along the head c at an upper end part of the back frame 21, and a theft prevention tag 36 is attached to the locking stick 26. When a locking sleeve 28 is engaged down with the hinge base part 24, the locking sleeve 28 is locked to the locking stick 26.
