The disclosed ammonia-burning internal combustion engine, which uses ammonia as fuel, is provided with an ammonia supply device (13) that supplies ammonia to a combustion chamber (5) and a heating/pressurisation device (28) that heats and pressurises ammonia that is suppled by the ammonia supply device. The heating/pressurisation device heats and pressurises ammonia using the energy generated in association with the operation of the internal combustion engine. Thus, high energy efficiency throughout the entire internal combustion engine or throughout an entire vehicle fitted with an internal combustion engine can be maintained while the temperature and pressure of the ammonia that is supplied by ammonia jet valves can be appropriately controlled.
