A multifunctional telephone set is provided by the present invention. The multifunctional telephone set comprises a handset (11), a telephone chip (12), a telephone interface (13) and a keyboard (14). The multifunctional telephone set also comprises a main control chip (21), an audio/video output device (22) and a storage device (23), wherein said main control chip (21) comprises an audio/video receiving module (211) and an audio/video output module (212). Said audio/video receiving module (211) is used for receiving audio/video information transmitted from said telephone interface (13) and storing the received audio/video information in the storage device (23); and said audio/video output module (212) is used for retrieving the audio/video information from said storage device (23) according to a transmission instruction and transmitting the audio/video information to an external device via said audio/video output device (22). The present invention can integrate the audio/video reception and output functions in the telephone set, so that a user can download the audio/video information from a network by using the telephone, transmit the audio/video information to a television set via a TV Out interface, and watch the audio/video information on the television set. Therefore, the interest of the user in watching audio/video contents is enhanced and the use efficiency of the telephone set is improved.
