Safety device, for a roped climber, comprising a chassis, a housing (4) mounted to pivot on the chassis, a pulley (9) mounted to pivot in the housing (4), with the same axis of pivoting (6) as the housing, the pulley (9) being rotated by the rope (22) and comprising locking means capable of preventing the pulley (9) from rotating with respect to the housing (4) when the rotational speed of the pulley exceeds a predetermined speed, the housing (4) carrying a mobile stop (19) capable, by collaborating with a fixed stop (21) belonging to the chassis, to trap the rope (22) in order to prevent the rope from moving, characterized in that it further comprises an egg-shaped component (5) pivot-mounted on the chassis about an eccentric axis (23), said rope (22) sliding around said egg-shaped component (5) making at least one turn and being trapped between said egg-shaped component and a third stop (27) in order to brake the movement of the rope if the climber falls. |
