The device (6) has a fastening device (10) for fastening a swinging element (7) in a region of a rear side (5) of a bristle carrier (3) of a broom (1). The swinging element is pulled from the bristle carrier during linear sweeping movement (A) of the broom and swings in a sweeping direction at an end of the sweeping movement such that dirt particles (12a, 12b) e.g. cements, are transported in the sweeping direction using air stream. Bristles (4) of the bristle carrier do not contact ground during the sweeping movement, and the swinging element is made of textile, plastic or metallic fibers. An independent claim is also included for a broom comprising a shaft.
