A method and system for managing dynamic information of friends in a network and a server for managing information of friends are disclosed. The method involves: receiving a viewing instruction for dynamic information of friends; acquiring dynamic information of friends corresponding to the identity of a view user, which is included in the viewing instruction for dynamic information of friends, and determining friend closeness degrees corresponding to the identity of the view user; ranking the acquired dynamic information of friends according to one or more update properties and the friend closeness degrees, which are included in the acquired dynamic information of friends, and outputting the ranked dynamic information of friends. The solution can satisfy the need that different users have different concern levels for different friends.
