In order to safely store wafers (8) and prevent an active substance present in the wafer (8) from penetrating or migrating into the packaging means of a primary packaging used to store the wafer (8), and moreover for easy removal of the wafer (8) after the primary packaging has been opened, a wafer pocket (1) is used as the primary packaging, which pocket is formed by a layer structure of films that comprises a first and a second sealing film (3, 4) connected to each other by means of at least one sealed region such that a cavity (7) is formed between the first and second sealing films (3, 4) which is suitable for receiving the wafer (8) and closed toward the outside. According to the invention, the layer structure additionally comprises at least one peeling film (2) for opening the wafer pocket (1), wherein said peeling film is connected to the first sealing film (3) and can be pulled partially off the first sealing film (3) when the wafer pocket (1) is opened. As soon as the peeling film has been pulled partially off the first sealing film (3), the peeling film causes the first sealing film (3) to tear as the wafer pocket (1) is opened further, whereby the cavity (7) is opened up toward the outside.
