In order to get a fixed relay station and a mobile relay station to operate properly even in an environment in which the fixed relay station and mobile relay station are connected to the same base station, relay stations (20_1 and 20_2), which constitute a mobile communication system, each send type information to a base station (10) indicating whether or not the relay station is mobile. The base station (10) configures and/or controls each of the relay stations (20_1 and 20_2) according to the type. In addition, when the type information indicates that the relay station is mobile, the base station (10) sends information about the configuration and/or control to the adjacent base station via a host controller.
