The device has a lighting unit (1) for forming a predetermined light function with light sources (2, 2') i.e. LED-elements, arranged on a carrier. Reflectors (3, 3') i.e. free-formed surface reflectors, reflect light in main beam direction. The carrier is positioned in the direction in front of the reflectors for forming a cover that partially covers the reflectors. The light sources are arranged on a rear side (6) of the carrier, where the side is turned toward the reflectors. The carrier comprises passage openings (9, 10, 10') for passing a portion of the light reflected from the reflectors.
