<p>The invention provides a system and method for protecting data in a portable data storage device. According to one aspect of the invention, a portable data storage device is provided. The device includes a first Portable Storage Identification (PSID) parameter which is specific to the portable data storage device, one or more data storage media which store the first PSID parameter, and a control logic which connects to the one or more data storage media. The one or more data storage media contain data file areas in which to store data files, and the data files contains data and a right object. The right object contains a second PSID parameter. The control logic enables the user of the portable data storage device to control the access of the one or more data storage media. The control logic judges whether the first PSID parameter and the second PSID parameter are same, and if the first PSID parameter is same with the second PSID parameter, then the request for the data from the user is responded, and the data in the data file is provided to the user.</p> |
