The method involves transferring amount (16) of data over a transfer channel (20) i.e. radio frequency transfer channel. Another amount (18) of data is subsequently or simultaneously transferred over another transfer channel (22) i.e. infrared transfer channel, where carrier frequency of the latter channel is greater than that of the former channel. Raw data are progressively encoded at a transmitter (10). Received data are combined and decoded at a receiver (24), where the former channel has larger stability and lower transfer rate than that of the latter channel.
