The light i.e. LED (10) has an LED chip for generating and radiating light, and a lens (26) for focusing and directing the light generated by the LED chip. A heat sink (34) is in thermal conductive connection with the LED chip, where the heat sink receives heat generated by the LED chip and dissipates the received heat to the environment. A silver-based thermal compound is provided between the LED chip and the heat sink, where the heat sink is formed within a housing (32). An independent claim is also included for a component of a dental instrument comprising a socket.
