The drier (1) has a washing drum (5) rotated in a leach container (4), and heat pump with a condenser (6) and a vaporizer (7). An air supply duct (8) is located between an air supply input (9) on a front side (2) or rear side (3) of the drier and the washing drum. An exhaust channel (10) is provided between the washing drum and an exhaust air outlet (11) on the front side or the rear side of the drier. The exhaust air outlet and air supply input are asynchronously arranged on the front and rear sides of the drier. An air blower (12) is arranged between the air supply input and air supply duct. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a washing drier.
