<p>The invention describes a filtration system for removing the suspended solids from water or other fluid, as well as a system for cleaning the dirty media resulted from filtering the water. This invention provides a method of water (or other liquid) filtration based on the principle of water being dispersed in shower like streams which fall due to gravity and penetrate a number of layers of media contained in trays. The filters are constantly moving in a loop to ensure uniform loading of the media. The construction of the tray permits discharging of the media loaded with impurities and reloading with clean media. As the media in the trays becomes loaded with impurities one or a number of trays can be set to discharge the dirty media and then be refilled with clean media. The system does not require backwashing. In the configuration named Elevator Filter, the filtration system runs continuously, even during the discharging of the dirty media and replacement with clean media. The system for cleaning the dirty media is based on the concept of using the difference in specific gravity between media, suspended solids, water and air, in the process of segregating the media from the suspended solids. The installation is running a forced flow of water and air bubbles contrary to the flow direction of the media, which falls due to gravity.</p> |
