Implant comprises a coating (23), which releases silver ions in the human body and exhibits antimicrobial action. A first surface component (28) of the coating is formed by a silver-containing anode material (25). A cathode material (26) is provided on the second surface component, which is spatially separated from the first surface component. The cathode material is higher in the electrochemical voltage series than the anode material. The cathode material and the anode material are connected to one another in an electrically conductive manner.
