PURPOSE: A drinking water sterilizing apparatus is provided to prevent a synthetic resin-based lamp housing or housing cover from being decomposed and discharged with drinking water by blocking ultraviolet ray using an internal cover. CONSTITUTION: A drinking water sterilizing apparatus includes a drinking water storing bath(10), a cooling coil(30), a sterilizing unit(40), a cock(50), a cock sensor(51), and a controller(61). The cooling coil surrounds the lower external side of the drinking water storing bath. The sterilizing unit includes a sterilizing lamp(45). The cock is in connection with the drinking water storing bath, drinking water is supplied from the drinking water storing bath through the cock. The cock sensor detects the operation of the cock. The controller is in electric connection with the sterilizing lamp and controls the lighting of the sterilizing lamp according to the operation of the cock.
