A fitting (1) for a cavity wall within a building comprises elongate plates (2) (3) adapted to be supported within the cavity wall, the plates (2 and 3) being formed with a plurality of holes (4) extending along the length of the fitting so as to allow insulation into the fitting (1) the top of the fitting is to collect water and to direct it to the ends of the fitting and out through the boundary wall of the cavity wall. The fitting (1) may be of Cruciform cross-section. The fitting may be placed in the cavity retrospectively. The Cruciform may be provided almost flat from a reel when entering the cavity, then springs into the cruciform cross-section when the elongate plates are straitening in the cavity. Further the fitting may be inserted into the cavity wall from inside the building or outside the building.
