A battery unit (10), particularly for a handtool comprises a plurality of battery cells (18) in a housing element (22). The cells (18) are protected by at least one sealing layer, preferably an individual sealing layer (14a) surrounding each cell and a further sealing layer (12) at the inside of the housing element (22), of resilient material. The sealing layer or layers Is or are constructed and arranged so that in the event of an opening (16) caused by a damaging object (42) the opening is at least substantially sealed off by return deformation of the affected layer. |
