Provided is a hybrid Agaricus bisporus mushroom strain obtained by crossing a mushroom of wild strain AA-0096 (ATCC deposit 76562) with a second Agaricus bisporus bridging cross strain, wherein said hybrid mushroom has either (a) has at least one physical characteristic selected from the group consisting of cap colour, cap thickness, and productivity that is statistically better than the corresponding physical characteristic of comparison commercial brown strain Amycel2400 or (b) is genetically non-compatible with comparison commercial brown strain Amyce12400.
