The method for influencing weld pool in a weld seam (10), comprises stimulating a quickly changeable magnetic field (B), whose field lines are directed transversely to a direction of the weld seam. The frequency of the magnetic field is 5-30 kHz. The field strength and/or the frequency of the magnetic field is changed. The magnetic field is excited in a section of the weld seam in which a seam material is present in a molten-liquid. The magnetic field is carried by a process of welding along a weld seam course. A horizontal seam position of the magnetic field is excited below the weld seam. The method for influencing weld pool in a weld seam (10), comprises stimulating a quickly changeable magnetic field (B), whose field lines are directed transversely to a direction of the weld seam. The frequency of the magnetic field is 5-30 kHz. The field strength and/or the frequency of the magnetic field is changed. The magnetic field is excited in a section of the weld seam in which a seam material is present in a molten-liquid. The magnetic field is carried by a process of welding along a weld seam course. A horizontal seam position of the magnetic field is excited below the weld seam. The field strength and/or the frequency of the magnetic field is regulated according to an electrical conductivity of an air gap (S) between liquid seam materials in a root area of the weld seam. The strength of the welding current produced by a welding arc, the intensity of the laser or the intensity of the electron beam is regulated according to the electrical conductivity of the air gap between the liquid seam material in the root area of the weld seam and the magnetic field produced by a coil (4) during an application arc, laser- or electron beam welding. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for influencing weld pool in a weld seam.
