PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus prevented in the erroneous loading of a toner cartridge, and suppressed in manufacturing cost, and to provide a method for preventing the erroneous loading of a process cartridge.SOLUTION: When the process (toner) cartridges 3 to 6 each equipped with a memory means having a function to store information on its own process cartridge for the image forming apparatus and a function to communicate with a body-side communication means are mounted to the apparatus body, in the case that the body-side communication means accesses the memory means, the memory means to be accessed is identified on the basis of information stored in the body-side memory 19, and a control circuit composed of transistors 15 to 18 capable of exclusively turning on/off power supply to the body-side loading means supplies the power only to the body-side loading means to which the access memory means should been mounted. |
