PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus accurately detecting pixel signals indicative of abnormal pixels generated by reading foreign matters such as dirt, stain, or flaw adhering to moving document reading glass.SOLUTION: An image processing part performs: a first abnormal pixel detection process of detecting pixel signals representing abnormal pixels from output signals from image sensors 118 on a color basis obtained by reading a guide plate 105 through moving document reading glass 111 in a state before a document passes through a moving document reading position Pr; and a second abnormal pixel detection process of detecting pixel signals representing abnormal pixels from output signals of the image sensors 118 on a color basis obtained by reading the document through the moving document reading glass 111 while the document is carried. The image processing part detects a main scanning direction position from which the pixel signals indicative of the abnormal pixels are outputted, from the result of the first abnormal pixel detection process and the result of the second abnormal pixel detection process. |
