PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure which improves the material yield and reduces the manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure comprises cutting at least one honeycomb sintered body out of a plurality of square columnar honeycomb sintered bodies 2 to prepare a triangular segment 3, bonding columnar aluminum or aluminum alloy auxiliary members 4 having triangular cross sections to the triangular segment 3 in a way that both of the oblique sides face each other to prepare a square columnar pseudo-square segment 5, bringing the two sides crossing at right angles of the triangular segment 3 in touch with the square columnar honeycomb sintered body 2 at the cross section orthogonal to the central axis, joining the square columnar honeycomb sintered bodies 2 and the square columnar pseudo-square segment 5 with adhesive 13 in a way that the two sides crossing at right angles of the auxiliary members 4 constitute the outer circumference, applying pressure on the outer circumference to form a honeycomb block body, and grinding the outer surface of the honeycomb block body to obtain the honeycomb structure. |
