METHOD AND DATA COMMUNICATION DEVICE FOR BUILDING A FLOW FORWARDING TABLE ITEM

A method and a data communication device for building a flow forwarding table item are disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes that: a data communication device receives messages, and counts the received messages to obtain a statistic value of a flow corresponding to the messages, wherein the statistic value includes the number of the messages or the number of bytes; the data communication device judges whether the statistic value exceeds a predetermined threshold; and if the judgment result is that the statistic value exceeds the predetermined threshold, the data communication device builds a flow forwarding table item for the flow corresponding to the messages, and performs, according to the flow forwarding table item, flow forwarding on the subsequent messages of the flow corresponding to the messages. The embodiments of the present invention can reduce the amount of the flow forwarding table items and storage space of a flow table, simplify the maintenance for the flow table, and prevent from Denial of Service (DoS), thus achieving high security.
