The method involves providing an injection molding tool with a cavity for the formation of a mold part, where a wall of the cavity is formed in sections by a steel substrate (3). An insulating layer is applied over the substrate for providing thermal and electrical insulation for the substrate. Molten plastic material is injected into the cavity, and an electric current having a voltage of about 75V is passed through a metal layer (5) to heat the molten plastic for a predetermined time. The plastic material formed in the cavity is cooled, and the mold part is released from the tool. The insulating layer is applied by flame spraying, plasma spraying, by pulsated laser coating (PLD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD), or physical vapor deposition (PVD). An independent claim is also included for an injection molding tool for injection-molding of a mold part, comprising a cavity. |
