The method involves recording an image (30) via an optical camera, during driving of a vehicle on a track i.e. road. An expected course of the track in a surrounding area of the vehicle is determined (40) by a determination device. An image region is determined (60) via a digital map data that is stored in a memory device, and a topographical data i.e. slope data, of the surrounding area, where the image region comprises a portion of the determined expected course of the track in the surrounding area of the vehicle. Image information that contains in the determined region, is evaluated (70). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an evaluation device in a vehicle for evaluating information of the image that is captured by an optical camera (2) a computer program for evaluating information of the image (3) a computer readable medium for storing the computer program for evaluating information of the image.
