The invention relates to a retractable device (D) designed to support the legs of a person sitting on the seat portion of a seat. The device (D) includes: a leg rest (SJ) solidly connected to a supporting structure (SM) defining a hollow central area (ZC); sliding means (MC) which are placed under the central area (ZC) and allow the supporting structure (SM) to move between a retracted position under the seat portion and an extended position in front of the seat; and a cover (CH) solidly connected to the supporting structure (SM), such as to cover at least part of the central area (ZC) and at least partially conceal the sliding means (MC).
