The method involves determining an actual air distribution state (25) of an air-conditioning device (1) i.e. semi-automatic air-conditioning device, of a motor car (3). A target air distribution state (27) of the air-conditioning device is determined by a control device (9) of the air-conditioning device. An air distribution setting recommendation (33) is output to a user (19) of the motor car through a display device (31) based on the target air distribution state for operating the air-conditioning device by the user.
