PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by rearranging the execution sequence of a plurality of processes by simple processing when carrying out the plurality of processes from a power-saving state.SOLUTION: In returning an image forming apparatus from the power-saving state to start the execution of a plurality of processes, the execution sequence of the plurality of processes is rearranged based on information indicating pre-processing/post-processing units not in use in carrying out processing, for every processing so that processing largest in the number of processing units not in use in carrying out processing is carried out first out of the plurality of processes to be carried out and that processing large in the number of processing units not in use in carrying out processing nor in use in carrying out any processing higher in the execution sequence is placed higher in the execution sequence than processing small in the number of processing units not in use in carrying out processing nor in use in carrying out any processing higher in the execution sequence.
