PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of improving air-tightness and capable of elongating the life of an organic EL element.SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes an organic EL element unit 1, in which an organic EL element 11 and wiring layers 15, 17 electrically connected respectively to an anode 12, and a cathode 14 of the organic EL element 11 are formed on a surface side of a plastic film 10. The anode 12 and the cathode 14 form a pair of electrodes placed apart from each other in the thickness direction. A frame-shaped joint portion 40, which is formed of frit glass and interposed between a base substrate 20 and a packaging substrate 50 to bond the base substrate 20, and the packaging substrate 30 to each other is provided. A picture-frame-shaped body 60, which is placed between a first joint portion 40 and the organic EL element unit 1 and accommodates therein the organic EL element unit 1 and maintains the distance between the base substrate 20 and the packaging substrate 30 to a normal distance, is provided. |
