PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device in an internal combustion engine capable of preventing damage of a housing of an air cleaner positioned on a downstream side of a filter element when the filter element is closed, and capable of maintaining normal operation of the engine.SOLUTION: The intake device 10 of the engine for an automobile is constituted so as to clean air sucked into the housing 12 of the air cleaner 11 from an intake side duct 15 by the filter element 13, and to supply the obtained clean gas to a combustion chamber of the engine from the housing 12 through an air supply side duct 17. When the filter element 13 is closed by freezing of water or the like, an auxiliary filter element 20 for preventing rise of a negative pressure in the downstream side of the filter element 13 closes a through-hole 19 formed on a peripheral wall 18 of the housing 12 or a cylinder wall 17a of the air supply side duct 17. |
