PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing group II metal carbonated, overbased Mannich condensation product of alkylphenols.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing metal carbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols, which uses ethylene carbonate as both sources of carbon dioxide and ethylene glycol. Under the reaction conditions using ethylene carbonate, carbonation and overbasing Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols is possible while at the same time the viscosity of the carbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols remains within acceptable levels, typically ≤1,000 cSt at 100°C. The invention also relates to carbonation of Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols using a 2-6C alkylene glycol and carbon dioxide, and a detergent-dispersant antioxidant additive comprising carbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols, wherein carbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols have a COto Ca ratio of ≥0.01. |
