PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of head clogging when writing a signal in a servo process, and to prevent the generation of deformation at the lateral surface of a tape by preventing drop-out resulting from recesses generated by the transfer of protrusions in a back coat layer to a magnetic layer.SOLUTION: This method includes an original sheet manufacturing process which forms a nonmagnetic layer and a magnetic layer on one surface of a flexible support in this order and forms the back coating layer on the other surface of the flexible support, a thermosetting process which performs thermosetting processing by winding an original sheet in which the layers are formed on both surfaces of the support on a core, a calender process which batch-calenders the original sheet after heat treatment, a cutting process which cuts off the calendered original sheet to obtain a plurality of pancakes, and a process which writes servo signals to the pancakes. After obtaining the pancakes by cutting the original sheet, until the servo signal is written, the pancake is left in an environment of a normal temperature and normal humidity for 60 hours or longer. |
