PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent or translucent composition for external application which is capable of including a large amount of components to be solved and reduces the stickiness developed as it gets dry.SOLUTION: The transparent or translucent composition for external application includes components (1) to (5). (1): Components to be solved. (2): Ethanol in an amount of 40-70 mass% of the composition. (3): Polyethylene glycol with an average molecular weight of 200-600 in an amount of 0.3-15 mass% of the composition. (4): Nonionic surfactant with an HLB value of not less than 7 in an amount of 0.01-5 mass% of the composition. (5): Water.
