<p>The device has a rotatably supported shaft (1) provided with carriers (4) that are radially projected over an outer surface of the shaft. A coaxial position element (7) is arranged within the shaft through an axial portion of the shaft. The element comprises storage spaces (8) tilted against the outer surface of the shaft. A portion of one of the spaces covers respective recesses (3) of the shaft. The carriers are displaceably guided in the recesses. An end of one of the carriers is guided against the storage space, and other end of the carrier is projected into or over the outer surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for crushing and classifying a material.</p>
