PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of a honeycomb structure by which collection efficiency of matter to be collected is improved and a pressure loss is reduced.SOLUTION: The method for production of a honeycomb structure comprises the steps of: molding a raw material containing ceramic powder and a pore-forming agent to form a molded article; and burning the molded article to produce a honeycomb structure, wherein the pore-forming agent comprises powder composed of a material that disappears at a temperature equal to or lower than the burning temperature at which the molded article is burned, the powder is obtained by mixing a smaller particle size powder with a larger particle size powder, the center particle size of the smaller particle size powder at which the proportion of the cumulative mass to the total mass is 50% is 5 to 20 μm, the center particle size of the larger particle size powder at which the proportion of the cumulative mass to the total mass is 50% is 30 μm or more, and the 90% particle size of the larger particle size powder at which the proportion of the cumulative mass to the total mass is 90% is 80 μm or less. |
