PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new peptide having osteoblast proliferation promotion activity, a medicinal agent for promoting formation of bones and containing the peptide, and an excellent use to utilize the peptide.SOLUTION: There are provided a peptide comprising an amino acid sequence expressed by Ala-Glu-Ser, a peptide containing a specific amino acid sequence and having osteoblast proliferation promotion activity, or their pharmaceutically acceptable salt. A monosaccharide or a sugar chain may be bonded to a side chain of at least one amino acid residue selected from threonine residue, asparagine residue and serine residue of the peptide. The peptide is useful as an active component of the medicinal agent for promoting the formation of bones.
