METHOD FOR PROCESSING DIGITAL IMAGE, METHOD FOR ZOOMING DIGITAL INPUT IMAGE, AND METHOD FOR SMOOTHING DIGITAL INPUT IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter that provides smoothing and edge preserving properties that are similar to that of a bilateral filter, while being not so constrained by a combination of nonlinearities of image values.SOLUTION: An edge preserving filter that works on the principle of matting affinity, allows a better representation of a range filter term in bilateral class filters. The definition of an affinity term can be relaxed to suit different applications. An approximate bi-affinity filter whose output is shown to be very similar to the traditional bilateral filter, is defined.
