PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dewatered cake having a low water content while suppressing power consumption in an electro-osmotic dewatering device without energy loss by excessive applying of electric current and supply of external energy by heating.SOLUTION: When sludge is subjected to electro-osmotic dewatering treatment, a dispersant, such as lignin sulfonate and melamine sulfonate, is added to the sludge subjected to the dewatering treatment. Preferably the amount of the added dispersant is 0.1-10 wt.%/DS. The addition of the dispersant can disperse sludge particles to increase dewaterability of interstitial water between the sludge particles. As a result, the dewatered cake having a low water content can be obtained while suppressing the power consumption in the electro-osmotic dewatering device. As the external energy, such as heating, is not required and the power consumption can be suppressed, dewatering cost is effectively reduced. |
