PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current consumption control apparatus and current consumption control method capable of avoiding fuse cutting, by limiting the current consumption in an amplifier, without incurring a sense of incompatibility in hearing of output audio.SOLUTION: A current consumption control apparatus includes a limiter unit 12 for limiting the output so that it does not exceed an upper-limit value for each of a plurality of channels constituting a multi-channel of an amplifier 30; and an upper-limit value control unit 22 for controlling the upper-limit value of the limiter unit 12. When the total value of predictive current consumption of all the channels exceeds a predetermined value, the upper-limit value of the limiter unit 12 is controlled so as to be decreased for partial channels, preferentially from a channel of maximum predictive current consumption; and even if the output limiting is performed, change in the sense of overall volume is reduced differently from the case of conventional volume control, and before a large current exceeding the predetermined value actually flows, current consumption is limited. |
