PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal compressor with a thrust canceling mechanism capable of controlling a tip clearance by using the thrust canceling mechanism.SOLUTION: This centrifugal compressor 1 includes: a thrust bearing 51 including a thrust disc 52 provided in a rotary shaft 20; and the thrust canceling mechanism 60 which generates the cancel thrust force Fb for reducing the thrust force Fa to be caused by the rotation of impellers 10 and to be applied to the rotary shaft 20. The thrust canceling mechanism 60 includes: a canceling disc 61 provided in the rotary shaft 20; pressure control valves 73 and 74 for controlling the pressure of a high-pressure chamber 62a; and a control device 80 for controlling the pressure control valves 73 and 74. The control device 80 includes a position detecting means 82 for detecting an axial position of the thrust disc 52, and controls a tip clearance by controlling the pressure control means 73 and 74 in response to the axial position of the thrust disc 52. |
