PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide plain paper type inkjet recording paper that is excellent in printing density of dye ink and reproducibility of print dots.SOLUTION: The plain paper type inkjet recording paper is formed by coating or impregnating a cationic group-containing copolymer and a water-soluble polymer compound other than the cationic group-containing copolymer on or into one side or both sides of base paper mainly composed of wood pulp. The cationic group-containing copolymer is obtained by polymerizing at least one kind of component (A) and at least one kind of component (B) at a molar ratio that [component (A)/component (B)] is 97/3-30/70. The at least one kind of component (A) is selected from a vinyl monomer expressed by general formula (I) and a vinyl monomer expressed by general formula (II). The at least one kind of component (B) is selected from a cationic group-containing vinyl monomer expressed by general formula (III) and a cationic group-containing vinyl monomer expressed by general formula (IV).
