PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and an optical detection method that suppress a rise in manufacturing cost and improve convenience for a user.SOLUTION: The optical module 1 is provided with a light source 11 and an optical fiber 12 having a core 21 which propagates an optical signal emitted from the light source 11. The core 21 includes, longitudinally along the core 21, at least one scattering region 31 which is irradiated with UV light of uniform intensity in the length direction of the core 21. When an optical signal traverses the scattering region 31, the scattering region 31 uses a portion of the optical signal to generate radially-scattered light from the scattering region 31 toward the outside of the optical fiber 12. |
