PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water quality improving method capable of improving water quality at low cost without ruining the scenery at the water's edge.SOLUTION: In a closed water area 11 such as lakes and marshes, a vegetation floating island 12 is moored, and a plurality of light-shielding materials 13 are installed at the outer periphery of this. The light-shielding material 13 is formed in a sheet-like shape having a light-shielding function comprising a floating foaming material (member) such as polystyrene, EVA, or urethane; and it is installed at a framework installed at a frame 15 of the vegetation floating island 12 at the both-sided piece part. The light-shielding material 13 is arranged at the prescribed depth in the water and shields sunlight in the water. Thereby, the light-shielding area is expanded without expanding the area exposed at the water surface, so that the effect of inhibiting phytoplankton propagation by light-shielding can be enhanced without ruining the scenery at the water's edge. |
