PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which is obtained by the chemical modification of a cellulose main chain given by the cleavage of a β1,4-glycoside bond and has a highly functional performance.SOLUTION: The compound is a tri-acetyl cellulose block copolymer which is represented, for example, by formula (1) (wherein Ris acetyl; Ris a group which is obtained by the radical polymerization of any of a hydrophilic monomer, a hydrophobic monomer, and an amphipathic monomer; and nand mare each a natural number showing the number of repeating units).
