[Also in Groups XV and XVIII] The frame of a clockwork or like motor comprising plates A, B spaced apart by pillars 3 is made by die-casting, all the pillars 3 being integral with one plate and short pillars 6, for a subsidiary plate 7, with the other. The free ends of the pillars have spigots 5 to engage corresponding holes in the opposite plate and they may have each a conical recess to facilitate riveting-over after assembly. The plates A, B may also have integral pillars or lugs 11 which may be used for mounting the frame or for supporting mechanism just outside it. The frame shown is intended to carry the shaft of an inertia wheel in bearings 8 and a driven shaft, which may carry ground-wheels, e.g. of a toy vehicle, in bearings 9, these shafts being interconnected by a geartrain mounted between the plates B and 7. The frame may be cast in zinc base alloy or other metal or material suitable for die-casting. |
